N. J. Lindquist is an award-winning author, a motivational speaker, and an empowering teacher who loves helping people live joyful and meaningful lives. Her published work includes five coming-of-age novels, the Hot Apple Cider anthologies, and numerous short stories, columns, and articles. As J. A. Menzies, she writes the Manziuk and Ryan mysteries. In 1999, N. J. and her husband Les created That’s Life! Communications, an indie publishing company. After years of church leadership, N. J. co-founded The Word Guild and served in a leadership capacity for eleven years. Originally from the prairies, N. J. and Les have lived in Markham, Ontario, since 1986. www.njlindquist.com

N. J. Lindquist is an award-winning author, a motivational speaker, and an empowering teacher who loves helping people live joyful and meaningful lives.

Her published work includes five inspirational anthologies (3 of them with discussion guides) N. J. edited or co-edited and published (Christmas with Hot Apple Cider, Hot Apple Cider wit CinnamonA Taste of Hot Apple Cider, A Second Cup of Hot Apple CiderHot Apple Cider); five YA coming-of-age inspirational novels; three discipleship manuals for teens; four mainstream adult mysteries (Shaded Light, Glitter of Diamonds, and Shadow of a Butterfly) as well as the novella The Case of the Homeless Pup) which are now being sold as under her new alter ego, J. A. Menzies; a Christmas play; a number of short stories, and dozens of columns and articles. N. J. is currently working on a memoir (LoveChild: Reflections from a Former Ugly Duckling) and a fantasy for ‘tweens.

N. J. is the co-founder and former executive director (2001 to 2008) of The Word Guild, a Canadian association of writers and editors who are Christian. From 2002 until 2012, she directed or co-directed Write! Canada, the largest Canadian conference for writers and editors who are Christian, and the flagship conference for The Word Guild.

Prior to that, she was involved in church leadership since she was in her late teens. She’s been Christian Education Director, Outreach Chair, Sunday School Superintendent, Junior Church Coordinator, youth leader, small group leader, and a 1:1 discipler. She’s also been part of the core leadership group for two church plants. Since 1992, N. J. has been part of the cell church movement, including five years working with World Team Canada editing a magazine called Cell Life FORUM.

Her speaking topics, for both adults and teens, include creativity, leadership, and making disciples.

She’s also been teaching writers in both Canada and the United States since 1992, and she has a website for writers.

N. J. is a member of the Writers Union of Canada, Sisters in Crime, Crime Writers of Canada, Advanced Writers and Speakers Association, Alliance of Independent Publishers, and The Word Guild.

She’s been married to Les Lindquist since 1972. They are also business partners in That’s Life! Communications, their publishing company. And parents of four adult sons. They also have  three daughters-in-law and a growing number of grandchildren.

Her hobbies include reading (especially mysteries); listening to music (especially country); watching baseball, basketball, curling, and ultimate Frisbee; and doing jigsaw puzzles.
